For Us, Appenzellerland is more than just a Place – It’s our Home and a Place of Strength. With our Camera, We Want to Capture the many Small and Big Moments that Make this Region so Special and Bring Them Closer to You.

From the First Light over Hoher Kasten to the Traditional Festivals and Customs, Such as “Silvesterchlausen” or “Öberefahre”. We Show What “Appenzell” Means to Us. Come along.

The most Beautiful Place in Switzerland?

Compact, Wild yet Welcoming. Appenzellerland is a Comparatively Small Region in Eastern Switzerland – and That’s Precisely What Makes it so Appealing. In a Short Time, an Incredible Number of Beautiful Places Can be Discovered Here on Foot, all in one Area – without Long Car Journeys.

And if Walking Isn’t an Option, the Excellently Developed Public Transport Will get You to your Destination. With the Appenzeller Railways, You Can Comfortably and Sustainably Reach Even the most Remote Corners of the Region.

These Three Things Make Appenzell Special

You Must See – and Feel – this.

Anyone who Has been Here Knows: Appenzellerland Doesn’t Reveal Itself to Everyone at First Glance. It Lives in its Customs – on the Alp, in the Living Room, in the Sound of Old Craftsmanship.

Up Here on the Alp, there are No Stars at the Entrance – but in the Sky. The Simple Things Count: a Warming Chäshörnli, a Crackling Wood Stove, and a Breathtaking View of the Alpstein.

The Mountain Panorama

It’s not just the View – It’s the Feeling of Suddenly Being Very Small and yet Completely Connected. When the Evening Light Settles over the Rocks, it Becomes Quiet.

Tradition Lives on in Appenzellerland. Because it Connects. Because it Brings Joy. And Sometimes, Simply Because It’s Beautiful when Things are Allowed to Remain.

“Öberefahre” – Living Tradition

When the First Sunbeams Drive the Snow from the Valleys, the Senn Set off: with Their Cows, Goats, Dogs – and a Lot of Passion. The Öberefahre Begins.

The Senn Boy Marches ahead with the Goats, then Come the Bell Cows, Their Sound Carries Far over the Hills. The Senn Proudly Wear Their Best Gwand, Accompanied by the Farm Dog, the Cattle, and the Ledi, the Richly Laden Horse-Drawn Cart.

Up on the Alp, the Yodel Rings out, the Triad of the Bells Echoes – and the Alpine Summer Begins.

A Picture for You.

A Piece of Appenzell that Stays.

Some pictures don’t just want to stay on the screen – they belong on the wall. Perhaps you’ve fallen in love with a picture that reminds you of a quiet moment. Or a place that never quite lets you go.

Many motifs from my portfolio can be ordered as high-quality prints – on FineArt paper, framed upon request. Just write to me which picture has stayed in your mind. Together we will find the right size and finish – for your home, your studio, or as a gift.
